The majority of the work undertaken by GSB is in advance of proposed development. Archaeological investigation is often required as a condition of a planning application to delimit areas of known archaeological importance, or to assess the likelihood of archaeology within previously unstudied areas. Geophysical techniques provide a very fast and efficient tool for this assessment and as such are often undertaken at an early stage within the planning process.
Having worked in and alongside the construction industry for over 25 years GSB is well versed in the permutations and challenges of all types of site. We can tailor a survey to suit any project, from small housing developments to large-scale mineral extraction, pipelines and road improvement schemes. Sites can vary in size from a hectare to several hundred, while we have surveyed pipelines over many tens of kilometres.
Such projects require highly competent and qualified archaeological geophysicists who can satisfy the client’s need for a professional approach. We have the ability to operate several survey teams in the field at any one time, and are therefore in a position to complete your survey in a fast, efficient and above all, professional manner.
GSB offer a range of surveys suitable for the detection of archaeological anomalies. Click on an image below to find out more about the techniques we offer. Or for information on any technique including those not specified, please contact us.
