Salisbury Cathedral, Wiltshire

GSB and Time Team visited Salisbury Cathedral, which dates from c.1200AD. From looking at the results it is clear what inspired English Heritage's logo!

What we found

The bell tower of Salisbury Cathedral was demolished in the late 18th century as part of a major refurbishment. GPR and resistance survey was successful in locating the foundations of this building (see left).

GPR also detected the footprint of the North Chapel of the cathedral.
