Sutton Courtenay, Oxfordshire

GSB and Time Team visited the Oxfordshire village of Sutton Courtenay near Abingdon. Aerial photographs of this area show a wealth of archaeological activity and can be  seen by clicking the Google Earth link to the right.

It was Time Team's remit to hunt for an Anglo-Saxon hall, which as you can see from the results we found...and more, lots more!

The results from this site are amazing! We detected the Anglo-Saxon great hall, with an entrance at the eastern end. Another 3 smaller halls were also detected along with 3 ring ditches and a cursus.

Not bad for 3 days!
