Hopton Castle, Shropshire

GSB and Time Team visited the picturesque remains of Hopton Castle in Shropshire to investigate a bloody Civil War siege. The Team uncover evidence of three fierce battles and search for the final resting place of the massacred defenders.

Results show a number of anomalies that relate to structures including a corner tower within the inner bailey, wall foundations associated with a 17th century building.

Defensive bank and ditches were also detected.
