Resistance Survey - a football pitch!

As part of a Time Team program, investigating Roman Ribchester, GSB were asked to survey a playing field. When we looked at our initial results (above) we were confused; the shape of the anomalies (shown in white) suggested part of a possible building, but the responses were low resistance, which are not normally associated with wall features. Expanding the survey area provided the answer (below). Repeated marking of the lines of the football pitch had changed the properties of the soil in the immediate vicinity, thereby producing a low resistance anomaly.
