History
In 1986 Dr John Gater and Dr Chris Gaffney established GSB (Geophysical Surveys of Bradford), the first independent consultancy for archaeological geophysics in the UK. We became involved with Time Team since the programme began in 1994.
In 2003, Messrs Gaffney and Gater published Revealing the Buried Past: Geophysics for Archaeologists (Tempus Publishing Ltd). A book intended for an introductory reference to the background and modern practise of archaeological geophysics; for archaeologists who use or wish to use geophysics as part of their wider evaluations, prospective students and anyone who has watched Time Team and wondered what exactly “Geophys” was all about.
